Ye Yinhao

Dizi and Xiao musician with the The Toronto Chinese Orchestra, founding member of  Rochester Chinese Music Ensemble and member of the DiCapella Dizi Ensemble Former positions include musician and principal musician with the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts City Chinese Orchestra, the Singapore Armed Forces Music and Drama Company Chinese Orchestra. Yinhao has also performed with The Edmonton Chinese Philharmonia (Canada), Little Giants Chinese Orchestra (Taiwan), Taoyuan Chinese Orchestra (Taiwan) amongst many others.

At thirteen years old, he entered the Singapore  Dunman High School and furthered his musical learning under the tutelage of Mr Wang Jianxin, Associate Professor of the Tianjin Conservatory of Music and Mr Ding Huaicheng, renowned lecturer majoring in woodwind performance in the Central Conservatory of Music, China, Mr Li Chongwang, Class One composer in China, and Mr Tay Soon Li, Concert Master and dizi soloist of the City Chinese Orchestra. Yinhao has also received guidance from esteemed performers such as Mr Zhan Yong Ming, Mr Yu Xun Fa, Mr Jiang Guo Ji, Mr Qu Xiang amongst many others. 

Upon enlistment for military service in 2002, Yinhao joined the Singapore Armed Forces Music and Drama Company, where he served as a dizi player, and is frequently appointed as soloist for various performances and concerts.

Yinhao had been awarded second place in the Dizi Solo Category of Singapore National Chinese Music Competition in 2000 (Intermediate Category) and 2002 (Senior Category). He has also taken part in the National Chinese Music Competition – Ensemble (Open Category) and won first place in both 1998 and 2000. 

Yinhao began teaching as a dizi instructor in various schools and community centres in 2004. He was invited as an instructor of woodwinds to the All-East-Malaysian Chinese Music Camp in 2006.  He has also given talks and workshops on Dizi and Xiao as well as various aspects of Chinese Orchestral music. Some of institutions he had taught in include Eastman School of Music (Summer @ Eastman 2017), Parkland Elementary School , NY (USA) , Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Rd), Holy Innocents’ Primary School and many others. 

He teaches with passion and is not restricted to any certain style of teaching, ensuring maximum efficiency in his teaching. His students have been awarded orchestral and individual performance awards by the Ministry of Education and the National Arts’ Council, Singapore.
