Edmund See started learning Dizi at the age of 13, studied at Bedok South Secondary, under the teaching of Mr Boo Chin Kiat (SCO musician), Edmund had lay a very strong foundation and is active in various Chinese Orchestras back then. Beside playing in the School Orchestra, Edmund also joined Boon Teck Community Centre, NTUC Chinese Orchestra, Soka Association’s Chinese Orchestra. He was selected to perform a Dizi Solo during Boon Teck Community Centre Chinese Orchestra Music Concert, 春之音, at Singapore Conference Hall.
In 1996, during his 2 years’ national service, Edmund was selected and joined the SAF Chinese Orchestra. Under the baton of Maj Tay Soon Huat, Edmund was given many chance to take part in various opera perfomances and the Orchestra Annual Concert.
Edmund went on to further his Dizi technique under the teaching of Mr Zhan Yong Ming (China first grade Dizi Master), and obtained a Grade 9 Dizi Cert from Nanyang Academy Fine Art (NAFA) in 1998.
In the year 2000, Edmund successfully joined Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) as a full-time Dizi musician. Together with SCO, Edmund went to various countries in Europe and China for Music Exchange program. That same year, Edmund start teaching at various Primary / Secondary/ Junior College and Community Centre.
From 2009 to 2012, Edmund was an Dizi instructor with Marsiling Community Club Chinese Orchestra and was involved in their Annual Concert performances.
Edmund is currently teaching in the following schools as a Dizi Instructor and have obtained a Distinction Award in the past SYF (Singapore Youth Festival).
